Ok, the passenger side required some significant grinding of the motor mount, a little hammering of the heat shield, and I had to leave off the heat shield bolt closest to the motor. The turbo is now installed properly from everything I can tell. The driver's side is not yet installed, but from what I can tell thus far I won't have to grind anything. I had to remove the motor mount, hammer LOTS on the heat sheild, and I scratched up the oil filter tree some, but it appears that it will fit without any other modifications (just hammering the heat shield). I haven't yet put the motor mount on, but test fitting looked like it won't be a problem. I'll post again if it turns out that I do indeed need to grind the motor mount on the driver's side.
